Industrial inkjet
Revolutionizing printing: Industrial inkjet technology
Industrial inkjet printing has revolutionized various industries, including the narrow web label industry, by offering new possibilities for digital printing. There are various advantages and potential of industrial inkjet printing over traditional printing methods which is also why industrial inkjet printing is increasingly preferred in the industry.
Resino Inks has developed application-specific industrial inkjet inks which meet existing meat packaging processing standards and are food packaging compliant.
The benefits of industrial inkjet printing
There are several compelling reasons why industrial inkjet printing is being increasingly favored in the industry:
Industrial inkjet printing enables new marketing opportunities, such as personalized and customized prints. This level of customization that industrial inkjet brings is already widely available and appeals to consumers who value unique and tailored designs.
Industrial inkjet printing offers significant cost savings, particularly for short-run designs. The savings of industrial inkjet can be attributed to various factors, including lower machine costs, reduced space requirements, simplified prepress processes, elimination of plate making, faster press preparation, lower energy consumption, and minimal start-up waste. Moreover, industrial inkjet provides the ability to reduce printed material inventory reduces the risk of obsolete prints.
Industrial inkjet printing has also facilitated the merger of label printing and small to medium volume packaging printing. This integration has necessitated consideration of the stringent food safety requirements associated with food packaging printing. Industrial Inkjet printing technology allows for the safe and compliant printing of food packaging materials, including sausage casings.
Innovative solutions for demanding conditions
The industrial inkjet printing of meat casings presents unique challenges due to the demanding processing conditions involved. Processes such as shirring, filling, boiling, and sterilization through autoclaving require inks with exceptional resistance properties. To address these requirements, reactive systems are typically employed. However, 2-component systems, commonly used in solvent-based and water-based printing, are not suitable for industrial inkjet printing.
The most viable solution lies in the use of specialized UV curing inks. These printing inks provide the necessary resistance properties and are compatible with industrial inkjet printing technology. At Resino, we have successfully adapted proven UV LED curing flexographic inks technology to industrial inkjet applications, specifically for meat casings.
Resino’s extensive experience in developing UV curing flexographic inks, which already prioritized low migration risk, proved instrumental in overcoming these challenges. Through or pioneering efforts our goal is to successfully develop a new technology of industrial inkjet inks for the meat casings industry.
